Were heading off to go camping in our PeaceMobile this weekend, so excited to hang with some other Westies owners and chill and for those who don’t own a VW Bus but want to groove out at the local campgrounds I found these awesome VW Van Tents they come in blue, red and yellow and are available to the USA via Firebox.com in the UK.

The PeaceMobile has had another eventful week, this time the passenger door started on fire! From what I can gather it was a short in the electronic door locks. After reading up VW has numerous problems with electrical issues and surprisingly door fires. But on happy news I found this totally awesome site to get some new stickers for the bus. I may be a hippy but I don’t enjoy camping in a tent at all. It’s a VW bus or bust in my book or at least until I came across this awesome company that takes camping to the next level. If I was more talented I be a carnie but since I’m not I can see myself camping in a tent like this one with my three ring circus.

It’s all in the hip

Little update on the peace-mobile, a neighbor and fellow Westy owner came by and assist me with my flat tires, so she’ll be up and grooving in no time and since I had some extra time on my hands yesterday I contemplated what exactly is a hippy or hippie? and why is there 2 different spellings. I use to dislike when people would call out things to me as I walked down the streets of Buffalo or Miami like: hey hippy got any drugs? hippy take a bath lately? Do you belong to a cult? or hippy sorry about Jerry (like I knew him personally though it’s like we did he was everyone’s brother). It seems to me that the world has an impression that a Hippy is a long haired dirty person who spends all day smoking pot and listening to Grateful Dead music and some do but I rarely fall under that category. I’m more like the first paragraph of this definition I found on the Urban Dictionary site and who doesn’t love Bob Marley?
Hippy (urban dictionary):
 Someone who has a bright outlook on life and cares about the world instead of trying to ruin it. they are often member of groups such as greenpeace and antiwar groups that care about the environment.
They reject the established culture and are a subculture originating in San Francisco in the 1960s who advocated universal love and peace, usually had long hair and used soft drugs, usually listen to acid rock and progressive rock music, reggae music such as that of Bob Marley.

Hippie (urban dictionary):
is a person who was raised under the ideological system that came out of the tumultuous 1960’s in North America and western Europe. They are either of the flower-child/baby boomer generation or that generations’ subsequent offspring. They possess a core belief set revolving around the values of peace and love as being essential in an increasingly globalized society, and they are oftentimes associated with non-violent anti-governmental groups. There is a stigma of drug abuse attached to the hippies that is prevalent to this day, specifically the use and abuse of marijuana and hallucinagens. Many rock movements,poets, artists, and writers from the 1960’s to today have associated with this movement, most prominently The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and Phish.

For me being a Hippy is more about leaving the world a better place then when you found it and if you have to wear a suit to do it then that’s okay with me, dreads can be overrated (I tried them back in the 90’s) and the hippy look seems to be in all the mags lately, like I mentioned it’s more of a mindset than an outfit or patchouli but I do miss Dead tour and falling asleep to the sounds of drumming.
